Lea Williams, Artist.
Ever since I could remember, I would create art based on what I loved, what sparked my imagination. I guess you could call it tribute art or fan art. It just a natural thing, as if it was meant to be. Fast forward all the grown up stuff in between then and now and that’s exactly what I still do, but you see now I know why.
I understand your passions. I get the way you feel. I have been with you in a queue from 4am to get that spot on the barrier at the front of a gig, soaking up the warmth of the people who become life long friends though this mutual love. I saw your face when your idol glanced in your direction and threw you a smile with a wink of an eye. I felt the way your whole body exploded with the rhythm, eyes as wide as saucers and your heart beating so hard and fast it could of jumped out of your chest on its own and joined you rocking that barrier. The adrenaline rush when you saw your band reunited after what felt like a lifetime apart, THAT guitar sound wrapping itself around every single part of your mind, out through your finger tips with your hands in the air.
I shared your joy when your found them and hung their posters on your bedroom wall, scrawled their names on your school pencil case. You made a promise to grow old with them. I cried with you when they passed. How could it be true? WHY? the anger, disbelief…. a real grief that is just cannot be explained. I understand you, that feeling of belonging to a world which brings you so much pleasure and ignites you.
This is is more than creating something because its possible. Its a moment in time that only ever exists for you, because that’s me, too.
